Here are some of the contenders for today’s biggest…news…of…the…day… The ADP employment report which suggested “easing wage pressures could alleviate Fed inflation fears”…Data which showed that “Worker productivity in the U.S. accelerated more than forecast in the third quarter, causing labor costs to drop by the most in four years”…Upbeat comments from a Fidelity fund manager on Google (GOOG), Research in Motion (RIMM), and Cisco Systems (CSCO)…An upgrade on Intel (INTC)…A report that says Merrill Lynch (MER), Bear Stearns (BSC), and Deutsche Bank (DB) have been sent subpoenas by New York state prosecutors…A move by Fannie Mae (FNM) to cut its dividend and sell stock in order to raise cash…Microwave recalls by General Electric (GE)…Chatter from Bill Gross that the Fed “may have to lower interest rates below 3 percent to avoid a recession”…While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this – Moonstruck flock to Arizona light collector…according to the article, “a growing number of curious people” are “beating a path to this patch of scrub-strewn land out in the Arizona desert to bask in light from the world’s first moonbeam collector”…Yes, you read that correctly – moonbeam collector…people are “flocking” to stand in front of a “blue-white light bounced off a wall of highly polished parabolic mirrors five stories high”…Sort of reminds me of this thing I used to do with a magnifying glass and ants when I was a child…come to think about it, the ants almost seemed like they were lined up to stand in front of that brilliant light too…Yeah, as I said yesterday – Yeti or no Yeti, we are in trouble…according to this site my monkey name would be Iron Vine-swinger……(Read More)
