Here are some of the contenders for today’s biggest…news…of…the…day… Concerns that Citigroup (C) will be forced to slash its dividend by as much as 40%…A deal that would allow people to rent 20th Century Fox movies over Apple’s (AAPL) iTunes…A “gift card glitch” at Wal-Mart (WMT)…A look into recessions and their impact, or lack thereof, on investing…Data on durable goods orders…A record year for convertible bond sales…While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this – Kyrgyzstan touted as ideal delivery hub for Santa…according to the article, “the tiny ex-Soviet state of Kyrgyzstan has declared itself the new home of Santa Claus” after a Swedish engineering firm determined it was “the ideal spot for Santa’s global toy delivery hub”…the study said Santa Claus “can eliminate time-consuming detours and avoid subjecting his reindeer to undue strain” by relocating from the North Pole…I am not sure what is worse, that a country is trying to “kidnap” Santa or that someone actually did a study on his efficiency…(Read More)
